12" plastic parasheet | Estes 1/2A3-2T | This RTF flew about as well as one could expect for a relatively heavy,
all plastic model with movable landing legs -- that is, it boosted straight,
getting a little less than the package spec 100 feet on the 1/2A motor
due to rod tilt and weathercocking, and deployed the parachute near apogee.
The parachute failed to open, despite a good dousing in baby powder, probably
in part due to the cold weather. No damage, and based on this flight,
likely to be well worth the $10 price tag.
After that one flight, I was freezing, so I packed up and went home. Later I learned the wind had calmed later in the day, which would have made the temperature tolerable. Grrrr... |
