Flight Log for 24 January, 1998, 60 Acres Park, Redmond, WA

Overcast, wind appr. 10 SW, threatening and occasionally spitting rain; wind and rain increased about noon.  Field was closed to all use, four flights total were launched from the parking lot for this first organized launch of SeaNAR, Section #568 of the NAR.

Bertha 24	23	12" plastic parasheet with spill and vents	Estes A8-3	Low flight, with tipping off into the wind and losing altitude to weathercocking.  Ejection was long past apogee, and the rocket landed horizontally with the parachute undeployed (though it was ejected).  Chipped paint on the nose cone, but no other damage.
Bertha 24	24	12" plastic parasheet with spill and vents	Estes B6-4	A little more motor, a lot more flight; this one went a couple hundred feet, and despite weathercocking, deployed near apogee.  Drift brought it back to about twenty-five feet from the pad.
